Our Centre

 

Orcadia is located in the vibrant seaside town of Portobello, Edinburgh.  It is a single story building with a trampoline room, a centrally located café providing light refreshments, four studio spaces, a sensory garden and a picnic area in the courtyard

 

The contact room is central to Orcadia’s work; this room has a unique design based on the concept of the four elements, earth, air, fire and water to express how we can use our intuitive senses to gain inner harmony.  It is rich with colour and sensory objects and this encourages the students to relax-enveloping form, texture, colour and sounds with gentle movement and simple tactile and touches programmes. 

The sensory garden is also based around the four elements of earth, air, fire and water, the garden allows students explore colour and tactile sensation is a natural setting. 

 

 

 

 

Leading off the drama and dance studio is a specially constructed and sound-proofed music studio. 

 

The art room is a busy space with an abundance of student’s work in progress for all to share.

The café is central to our centre, a busy vibrant space with students, carers and the general public enjoying a ‘cup of tea’ and generally catching up on the happenings of the day.
