16-24 overview

After quite a few of our students became too old for our Arts After School Programme it became all too obvious that despite a lot of good work being done, there are many gaps in the field of care in the community, particularly where young people (16 – 24yrs) are concerned.  We decided to put a few programmes together to specifically target this age group in the hope we could help fill the void these young people were now finding themselves in.  The Orcadia  Programmes have much to offer in this respect and they have been tried and tested in a variety of different situations, socially (drama and youth club) and educationally (Creative Construction).

As these programmes are for young adults, they do not close over the long summer holidays as do many other programmes.  Quite a few of our students attend more than one class and therefore can see their friends a few times each week.  Our Youth Club, in particular, is a roaring success where the young people can ‘chill’ and catch up with friends in a relaxed atmosphere.  Disco’s are a regular occurrence – at the request of the young people.

Youth Club

Our Wednesday evening youth club is for students 16 - 24 years of age.  The club runs each week from 6 - 9pm.  Students discuss and set a monthly programme of events at the beginning of each month. Events can range from an evening at Orcadia with a Karaoke or  DVD,  to a trip to McDonalds or the Cinema.
The Students decide, it is their youth club.

Youth club cost is £7.00 per  week plus cost of any outings.
